Indoor Track Distance Racing Tips
Просмотров 30 тыс.9 лет назад
Here are Four Tips about Indoor Track Distance Racing from Coach Tief and Tips4Running 1. Stay on the inside of the curve as much as possible. If you run on the outside for too long, you're making your race longer than it should be. Try to be on the inside. 2. Pass on the straightaways if you can. You can swing wide coming off the curve, but then make a strong move and pass on the straight sect...
Why Isn't Cross Country Running In The Olympics?
Просмотров 19 тыс.9 лет назад
Why not, right? Cross Country should be in the Olympics, and here's four reasons why. 1. It already was in the Olympics. It was held three times in the early 1900’s. They stopped it because in 1924 it was a real hot day and several participants didn’t finish the race. We have the marathon now, and that is super brutal compared to a 10k or 12k race. 2. Here in the United States, almost half a mi...

You can also set a silent alarm on the Fitbit Flex, and th...
Cross Country Running - Race Strategy

This is what the great cross country runners do during a race. 1. Cross Country Runners use their team mates during a race, and XC runners use other teams or other runners during a race. You can work together or you can draft off another runner. 2. CC Running Race Tip number two. Run the curves smart. If you have two turns in a row, run the tangent. That means, take the shortest route possible ...

Three Ways to Open a Banana - Traditional, Monkey Style, and Ninja
Просмотров 31 тыс.10 лет назад
Attention Banana Lovers, This video is for you. 1. The Traditional way to open a banana is to grab it by the stem, pull the stem away and down from the inside side of the banana and it should open up. 2. The monkey style way to open a banana is to go to the bottom of the banana and pinch or squeeze the very end or tip of the banana. This will cause the peel to crack at the tip. Then you can pee...

Also: 2. Appreciate the weather, it won't be nice outside for much longer 3. Look for a treadmill so you don't have to run in the 30 degree weather for the winter 4. For cross country runners: Don't eat the halloween candy 2 days out from Districts

Sports Science has come a long way, since I was a high schooler in the early 1970s. Back then, being a quarter miler, the 800 (actually 880) was like the 3000 meters. There really was no strategy taught, which is why I couldn't break 51 seconds, to save my life. In my senior year, a new assistant coach came, asked me my time and looked incredulously at me. He had me run a 220, at the next meet, and told me to go flat out. He then had me run "fartleks", until I could run a 220 under 26 seconds, no matter how tired I was. He had me run .75 seconds slower than my fastest 220, for the first half of the race and I eventually ran high 48 seconds. Afterwards, his first words were that I should have been a half-miler. The same strategy can be used for the 800, just double the "recipe". You have to find your own tolerances about what your splits are; in the final analysis, the only opponent you need to be concerned with is the clock.

I think a big thing is form. I’ve noticed that when I have good form I can go the same speed and still feel bouncy and quick while normally I’d feel sluggish and tired. If you drive your knees kick your heels to you butt put force into the ground and keep a quick snappy cadence you’ll be surprised at how much easier your race paces will feel and who knows maybe you can sneak in a lil PR if you feel good

Honestly, because it’s in spring, training before the year helps. While pacing myself for a 2 mile I can run a 8 minute mile with ease, but at the start of spring with no training that’s what a singular mile is for me.

The conventional excuse is that Cross Country is typically considered a cool/cold weather sport but I think this is weak reasoning since there are plenty of "winter" sports competed in the Summer Olympics.

  • @Runnersreview

The first two laps are just to get set into positions. Go out fast, but worry about just staying either on pace for your time, or with the people that are your pace or a little faster. The third lap is what makes a miler; run it hard, maybe not all out, but start you kick and go really fast. The whole final lap should be all out, and the last 200 should be a sprint if n or sprinting already.
